It was a fitting victory for Gilas, which started the tournament with an
 overtime loss to Croatia. The nationals were dominated by Greece, but 
were able to score near wins against Argentina and Puerto Rico.<br />

Gilas head coach Chot Reyes is proud of how the Philippine national 
team played against taller players, noting the distinctive all-out brand
 of basketball the Filipinos showed the world.<br />
"It's all heart and secondly Pinoys play a distinctive kind of 
basketball. It looks like street ball. It looks like bara-bara. Our only
 chance is to really play a different style, a style that these guys are
 not used to," he said.<br />

Gilas Pilipinas suffered another heartbreaker, this time pushing 
world no. 3 Argentina to the limit before falling short in the final 
seconds in the FIBA World Cup of Basketball at the Palacio Municipal de 
Deportes San Pablo in Spain Monday night.<br />

Argentina won, 85-81, but the Filipinos again gained the respect of 
their opponents after repeatedly threatening an upset win over the high 
rated South Americans.<br />
<br />
But in the aftermath of Gilas' heartbreaking 85-81 loss to Argentina on 
Monday several notable side stories emerged: Ranidel De Ocampo's heady 
18-point evening, Jimmy Alapag's sensational second-half threes and the 
rousing comeback from the Philippines from fifteen points down in the 
second half.<br />

This year's tournament marks the first time since 1978 that the Gilas 
Pilipinas is taking part in the high-profile international showcase. 
They hosted that edition of the event, but lost all eight games. Their 
best result was a bronze medal in 1954.<br />

Gilas vs Crotia</h4>
The Philippine national basketball team lost its debut in the FIBA 
Basketball World Cup, but not before giving Croatia a huge scare in 
overtime, 81-78 overtime on Saturday in Seville, Spain.<br />
<br />
The Philippines had a chance to win the game in regulation after getting
 a stop with 20 seconds left. But Chan's well-challenged three-pointer 
failed to find the mark, resulting in overtime.<br />

The Gilas Pilipinas got the bronze medal after defeating China in their match with the score of 80-79.
It was a crutial game after Makan made two freebies for a 79-77 lead with 46 seconds left.<br />
<br />
China had a chance to extend the lead to four points but failed to make 
two more free throws in the next play. Tenorio grabbed the rebound and 
quickly fired a pass to Lee who was waiting in the left wing ready to 
fire the three points and fouled.<br />

Paul Lee knocked down three pressure packed free throws with no time remaining in the ball game to give Gilas Pilipinas the bronze medal in the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup, 80-79, breaking the hearts of hosts China.<br />

against a very tough Rain or Shine squad, San Mig Coffee held on and 
came away with a 92-89 victory in a Game 5 classic to win the 2014 PLDT 
Home Telpad PBA Governors’ Cup, three games to two, and nailing the rare
 Grand Slam feat on Wednesday, copping all three championships in the 
39th season of the league.<br />

The thrill was there while I was watching specially on the 4th quarter 
wherein the San Mig is just up by 3 points I had seen how Rain or Shine 
tried to shoot the three point just to lead the game to overtime but
